Certification
AVRBC is currently affiliated with the Canadian Administrators of Volunteer Resources (CAVR). Through this affiliation, all AVRBC members become automatic members of CAVR, thus providing access to CAVR’s national certification program.
The personal benefits of certification are three-fold:
- To recognize accomplishments in the administration of volunteer resources.
- To demonstrate competency in the administration of volunteer resources in relation to national standards.
- To indicate a commitment to professionalism and excellence.
To the profession, certification will:
- Enhance the image and credibility of the profession.
- Contribute to the body of knowledge available to the profession, as the best papers may be published in the Canadian Journal of Volunteer Resources Management.
To apply for certification, you must:
- Be a member of CAVR in good standing.
- Have three years experience in the profession.
- Have a well articulated personal philosophy of volunteerism.
- Demonstrate leadership in the administration of volunteer resources.
- Perform fifty (50) hours of professional development within the last three years.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in volunteer service administration by submitting two (2) written reports.
- Submit an application fee.
